Title: AN APPROACH OF DATA MINING USING MONOTONE SYSTEMS
Author(s): Rein Kuusik, Grete Lind
Abstract: This paper treats data-mining as a part of the process called knowledge discovery in databases (KDD in short), which consists of particular data mining algorithms and, under some acceptable computational efficiency limitations, produces a particular enumeration of patterns. Pattern is an expression (in a certain language) describing facts in a subset of facts. The data-mining step is one of the most implemented steps of the whole KDD process. Also the KDD process involves preparing data for analysis and interpreting results found in data mining step. The main approach to data mining and its main disadvantage is shown and new method, called generator of hypotheses, and its base algorithm MONSA is presented.
